![]() ![]() ![]() And before you say but neither of them are realistic, yes, neither are. Time travel is a lot more out this world than AI is - AI is possible, Time Travel isn't, so applying realism to Emergence is a lot more doable than to The Crossing. ‘ Realism/consistence/possibility of occurring here in real life’ (less is it realistic and more does something contradict itself based on our knowledge and the like): The Crossing. Emergence did (the reveal that Loretta and her group could have Piper 'wake up') and while it is likely that due to the show's record what happened would be overcome but it did happen and there's no season 2. Both endings resolve most points and are conclusive, but the ending of The Crossing didn't have a cliff-hanger ending. Both have elements that are left unanswered, but otherwise I'd say both were well written and designed.Įnding (Is it a cliff-hanger, is it conclusive): The Crossing. Plot (Quality, structure, does it feel natural, pacing): I'd say it's a draw. It's also good that in both shows there is a touching relationship between a parent and their adopted child (Reece and Leah, Jo and Piper). But for both The Crossing and Emergence, that isn't the case. And there are some shows where the vast majority of characters could die and my reaction would be a meh. I'd say both shows have well written, likable, and relatable characters. Emergence has, at varying times, Alex (for part of Episode 9, Helen, Emily, Kindred, and Benny (The end of episode 9, 10, and around half of 11). The Crossing has Eve, Doyle, and sometimes Lindauer. Both shows had their one-dimensional characters. A brief introduction: Both are sci-fi thriller TV shows, Emergence covers a local police chief taking in a girl from a mysterious plane crash and while I'd expect anyone on this subreddit likely has seen The Crossing, for those who haven't, it is a TV show that is focussed around the story of some refugees, time-travelling to the past to escape a war.Ĭategories for The Crossing vs Emergence:Ĭharacters (Are they well written, likeable, understandable, is any one dimensional, relatable, would I feel sad if they died.): I'd say it's a draw. ![]()
